Sweet and Sour Carrot Compote With Cumin


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 3 large carrots
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/4 cup raisins

Directions

  • Peel and grate the carrots.
  • Chop onion into small dice.
  • Heat a saucepan over medium heat and toast cumin seeds for about a minute.
  • Add Sue Bee® honey, vinegar and turmeric and stir till combined.
  • Add carrots, onions and raisins; cook over low heat till onions are soft and translucent.

Honey Banana Bread


Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 bananas
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • sugar

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 325 F.
  • Stir together all ingredients, except walnuts, until just mixed.
  • Stir in walnuts.
  • Pour into well greased loaf pan and sprinkle sugar on top of batter.
  • Bake for one hour or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool 10 minutes in pan, then remove and cool completely before slicing.

Whiskey Mustard


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 1/2 cup yellow mustard seeds
  • 1 tablespoon grated nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup whiskey
  • 2/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon cayenne
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup black mustard seeds
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Directions

  • Grind the mustard seeds to a powder, I use a coffee grinder.
  • In a ceramic or glass bowl mix the mustard powder with the water and leave for half an hour.
  • Then add the flour with the cayenne (if using) mix well.
  • Add Sue Bee® honey, vinegar, whisky, nutmeg, salt and mix until well blended.
  • Cover and leave overnight.
  • Next day: if it looks too dry add more honey, so far the times I made it it never looked too dry but sometimes too thin and I add another spoon of flour, the mustard will thicken a bit more the next weeks so keep that in mind.
  • Pour into sterilized jars and seal, allow to mature/mellow for 2 to 3 weeks in a cool dark place.
  • After opening keep in the fridge.

Not Yet Another Barbecue Sauce


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 2/3 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic

Directions

  • Add all ingredients to a food processor.
  • Pulse until smooth.
  • Use for basting during the last 3-5 minutes of grilling.
  • Have a nice time inventing other interesting uses of this zesty sauce.

Honey Poppy Seed Dressing


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 1 (0.75-1 ounce) package Italian salad dressing mix
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

Directions

  • Mix all the ingredients except the oil.
  • Slowly whisk in oil.

Honey Barbecue Dipping Sauce (Low Fat)


Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt

Directions

  • In a saucepan combine all ingredients; bring to a simmer and cook over low heat stirring occasionally for 10-15 minutes (adjusting the honey amount to suit taste).
  • Cool to room temperature then refrigerate for at least 6 hours before using or up to 2 days.

Honey Soy Dipping Sauce


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons fresh peeled minced ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

Directions

  • Whisk together all ingredients except sesame seeds.
  • Cover and chill 1 hour.
  • Removed from refrigerator and add sesame seeds.

Caramel Apple Cheesecake Pie


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 4 apples
  • 21 caramels
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • 1/2 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 8 oz package cream cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs

Directions

  • Melt margarine and 1/2 cup of Sue Bee® honey over medium high heat in a frying pan.
  • Stir in apples.
  • Cook 12 to 15 minutes until browned; stirring constantly.
  • Melt caramels and half and half and set aside.
  • Beat together cream cheese, 1/2 cup Sue Bee® honey, allspice, vanilla and eggs.
  • Fold half of caramel mixture in with apples and the other half with cream cheese mixture.
  • Spoon apple mixture into bottom of pie crust.
  • Sprinkle with 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/2 cup chopped pecans.
  • Top with cream cheese mixture and bake at 375 F for 35 to 45 minutes or until deep golden brown.
  • When cool, top with whipped cream and sprinkle with nuts and chocolate chips.

Honey Oatmeal Bars


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup margarine
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4-1/2 cups oatmeal
  • 12 oz. pkg. (2 cups) chocolate chips
  • 2/3 cup peanut butter

Directions

  • Beat together Sue Bee® honey, sugar, margarine, vanilla and salt.
  • Stir in oatmeal and 1 cup chocolate chips.
  • Press mixture into a 9×13-inch buttered baking dish.
  • Bake at 350 F for about 30 minutes.
  • Cool slightly.
  • Melt remaining chips and peanut butter together and spread over top of bars.
  • Cut into bars when cold and topping is set.

Sweet and Spicy Dressing


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon curry
  • 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
  • 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 (4 ounce) can diced green chilies
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons mild to medium red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon dry basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry oregano leaves
  • 6 ounces canned pineapple juice

Directions

  • Whisk all ingredients together as you are adding them; add oil slowly while you are whisking until combined.
  • Make a day ahead or at least a couple hours.

Sue Bee® Honey Oriental Chicken Salad


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 1 chicken breast
  • 1 tablespoon poupon mustard
  • 4 teaspoons mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1/3 cup chow mein noodles
  • 1 tablespoon almonds
  • 1 green onion
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrot
  • 1 cup napa cabbage
  • 1 cup red cabbage
  • 3 cups romaine lettuce
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup corn flakes
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/8 teaspoon sesame

Directions

  • Beat egg and milk, mix dry ingredients together.
  • cut chicken in 4-5 strips and dip in egg and then flour.
  • Fry for 5 minutes each side.
  • Mix together remaining ingredients excluding lettuce (Sue Bee® honey, vinegar, mayo, poupon and sesame) with electric mixer.
  • Toss with lettuce and chicken.

Super-Easy Honey-Mustard Sauce (Or Salad Dressing)


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 dash salt

Directions

  • Whisk together all ingredients.
  • Refrigerate before serving (store in refrigerator).

Spun Honey Spread (Honey Butter)


Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 pound butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  • Mix Sue Bee® honey, sugar and cream together and heat until boiling.
  • Stir continually and boil for 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat and add butter.
  • Beat well with mixer.
  • Add vanilla and beat until smooth.
  • Store in refrigerator.

Pumpkin Pie Dessert


Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 1 29-ounce can pumpkin
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 can sweetened and condensed milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup nuts

Directions

  • Mix together all ingredients except cake mix, margarine and nuts.
  • Spread in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  • Sprinkle dry cake mix over top.
  • Drizzle melted margarine over cake mix and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
  • Bake 1 hour at 300 F or until top crust is browned.
  • Serve with whipped cream.

Strawberry Cream Pie


Ingredients

Filling

  • 1/3 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 1 envelope gelatin
  • 1/4 cup water
  • dash salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tabelspoons milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 9 inch baked pie shell

Topping

  • 2 tablespoons Sue Bee® honey
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 10 oz package strawberries

Directions

  • In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over water and let soften.
  • Combine Sue Bee® honey, salt, sour cream, milk and egg yolks and mix well.
  • Microwave mixture just to boiling, stirring after every minute.
  • Stir in softened gelatin.
  • Cover and refrigerate mixture until it starts to thicken, about an hour.
  • Fold in whipped cream and spoon into baked pie shell.
  • Refrigerate 2 hours.

Topping

  • Mix all Sue Bee® honey, cornstarch and juice in a small saucepan.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  • Stir in strawberries.
  • Cool to room temperature and spoon over filling.
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Jalapeno Plum Sauce


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons soya oil
  • 1 orange
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 1/2 lbs purple plums
  • 1 1/2 jalapeno peppers
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons garlic
  • 1/3 cup red onion
  • 2 lemons

Directions

  • In a heavy pot, cook red onion, garlic and jalapeno pepper in soy bean oil until tender.
  • Add the plums and stir in the curry powder and allspice.
  • Once the spices are dispersed, add the Sue Bee® honey, soy sauce, plums and the fruit juices.
  • Cook over medium low heat for 1 hour and 15 minutes uncovered, stirring often.
  • The consistency should be like a chunky tomato sauce.
  • Remove from the heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
  • Bottle and chill the sauce.

Smokey Bones Honey Pecan Butter


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 1/2 cup pecans
  • 1 lb unsalted butter

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Place pecan halves on a cooking tray and cook until toasted, approximately 5-8 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool to room temperature.
  • Chop cooled pecans.
  • Place pecans and butter in a mixer and blend for three to five minutes using a spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl, as needed.
  • Blend on low speed adding Sue Bee® honey and continue until all ingredients are well mixed.
  • Place in serving dish or bowl and refrigerate until ready for use.
  • Serve with warm cornbread.

Apple Honey Crisp


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 6 cups apples
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup flour

Directions

  • In large bowl stir apples, lemon juice, water, cinnamon and ginger until well mixed.
  • Place apple mixture into square glass baking dish.
  • Drizzle Sue Bee® honey over apple mixture.
  • With food processor or pastry cutter, combine butter, brown sugar, rolled oats and flour until fine crumbs are formed.
  • Place topping over apples.
  • Bake in 375 F oven for 45 minutes or until golden and bubbly.

Solo Glazed Grilled Chicken Breast


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Sue Bee® Honey
  • 1 boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon-style mustard

Directions

  • Mix Sue Bee® honey, ketchup, and mustard.
  • Cover both sides of the chicken breast with the glaze and cook on a grill for 8 minutes per side or until internal temperature is 165 F.

Strawberry Ambrosia


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Sue Bee® Honey
  • 1 pint strawberries
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 2 bananas
  • 8 oz. can pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 8 oz. low-fat strawberry yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp. strawberry Jello

Directions

  • Combine fruit and toss with lemon juice.
  • Blend Sue Bee® honey, yogurt and Jello until smooth.
  • Stir all ingredients together and refrigerate until ready to serve.
